DSS Child Protective Services work closely with Transylvania County Sheriffs Office to investigate reports of child abuse, neglect, and dependency. Coordination between law enforcement agencies and Child Protective Services for investigative assessments achieves joint efforts in interviewing and ensuring safety of families and children; ensures an effective working relationship; holds perpetrators accountable for harming children; reduces the number of interviews children experience; prevents or reduces the repeat traumatization of children; and, enhances the evidence process for criminal prosecution.
