Amanda Vanderoef has joined Transylvania County as the Director of Social Services (DSS).
Vanderoef attended A.C. Reynolds High School and holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from North Carolina State University. Amanda has a combined total of 25 years of North Carolina Social Services experience. Most recently Amanda was the Social Work Program Manager for Henderson County DSS, and prior experience includes Social Work Supervisor and Social Worker in Henderson and Washington County, North Carolina.
DSS Board Chair Judith West said, “We are very excited to have Amanda as our new director. We look forward to working with her and community partners, including county departments, nonprofit agencies, county commissioners, and county manager to achieve positive outcomes for DSS clients and the community. We look forward to working with Amanda to establish and accomplish goals established by the DSS Board and the Board of Commissioners; and provide the best services to the community and the citizens we serve.”
Vanderoef said, “I am excited to start this new role with Transylvania County DSS. I feel fortunate to be given this opportunity and look forward to getting to know staff and the community. I look forward to working with a great group of professionals who have the best interest for the community and its residents at heart.”
