Allen McNeill, a Brevard native, has been selected as the Planning and Community Development Director for Transylvania County.
McNeill a graduate of Brevard High School attended Western Carolina University where he received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and master’s degree in Public Administration. His professional work includes a variety of government roles such as: Right of Way Agent for North Carolina Department of Transportation; Planner I with Henderson County Planning Department; Budget and Management Analyst with Transylvania County and most recently as Interim Planning and Community Development Director with Transylvania County.
“We are thrilled that Allen will be leading our Planning and Community Development Department. Allen brings diverse professional experience, which will benefit Transylvania County and our citizens as we work to lay the foundation for our community’s future. As the Interim Director, he has shown great enthusiasm and will be a great asset to the county team”, said Jaime Laughter, County Manager.
Allen will be involved with county initiatives including workforce housing, water and sewer infrastructure, transportation, small area planning and initiatives with Transylvania Economic Alliance on behalf of Transylvania County.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity and excited for the privilege to continue working with my staff, citizens, Planning Board and elected officials of Transylvania County in this position. Transylvania County has been my home since I was very young and I will do my very best to build upon past successes while planning for the future.” said McNeill.
McNeill is married to Meghan Summey, a Licensed Clinic Therapist who works at a local outpatient practice.
