On January 11th, The Transylvania County Board of Commissioners appointed John J. Aldridge, IV as Special Counsel for the Department of Social Services.
John received his Bachelor of Science degree from East Carolina University and a Juris Doctor from the North Carolina Central University School of Law. John’s legal career has developed through many areas of public service. He has served as an Assistant District Attorney where he prosecuted a wide variety of cases on behalf of the State of North Carolina. He has served as a Sheriff’s Attorney providing legal advice and representation to law enforcement professionals and most recently, he served as outside counsel for numerous counties and cities in the area of tax collection. John is excited to continue his public service as DSS Special Counsel and to help foster the department's mission of providing service to Transylvania County's most vulnerable citizens.
“High quality and consistent representation for DSS cases is a critical element in making sure that the department can effectively advocate in the best interest of citizens, from young children through adults. We are excited to have John joining the team with both his legal expertise and his enthusiastic, collaborative approach,” said Transylvania County Manager Jaime Laughter.
