Chase McKelvey BIOGRAPHY

Chase R. McKelvey was appointed to the Board of Commissioners on July 8, 2024, to fill a vacancy. In November 2024, he was elected in a special election to fill the remaining two years of the term. 

Chase has lived in Transylvania County since 1996 and is a graduate of Brevard High School. He furthered his education at Blue Ridge Community College, focusing on business management, and is a graduate of the American College.
 

Chase is married to the former Citlalmina Gonzalez and together they are proud pet owners of a Siberian Husky named Champ. While they do not currently have any children of their own, you will often hear Cit say that she does have many children based on how many students she will have in class each year as a Rosman Elementary School teacher.
 

As the owner of Chase Insurance Group, a local insurance agency founded in 2013, Chase believes in building and maintaining long-term relationships based upon the principles of integrity and providing personal service to all clients. Since opening the agency in 2013, the agency has grown from one staff member to six. For several years, Chase served on the Erie Insurance Company Task Force assisting the leadership with marketing and sales. Chase Insurance Group finished up the year 2023 with being named one of the top ten agencies in Erie Insurance Company.
 

Faith is important to Chase and in addition to his insurance career, he is also an Ordained Minister, having received his Ordination License in 2004. Having a heart for service, Chase has been on many mission trips to Bolivia and wholeheartedly believes that all glory and honor for every accomplishment in his life belongs to God.
 

Chase is motivated by his desire to see Transylvania County progress forward with a thriving economy. With a wealth of management experience for most of his career, Chase's working experience has allowed him to hone his leadership and communication skills. His goal is to utilize those skills to be the voice for the citizens of Transylvania County, so that they are heard within the current government establishment.

Q: What makes Transylvania County so special to you?


Although I am not a native as my parents moved our family here in 1996 from Sarasota, Florida, Transylvania has become home to me. I have many good memories growing up in this county and attending school here. It is where I established my business and where Cit and I will raise our family. 
 

Q: In which ways do you hope to improve Transylvania County?
 

My vision for Transylvania County's future is one where we are progressively moving forward with economic growth and opportunities for small businesses. I would love to see the educational facilities improved and the current outstanding projects completed.
 

Q: Do you have any favorite things that you like to do in Transylvania County?
 

I do like to ride my motorcycle in the Pisgah National Forest and spend time outdoors with family and friends. Transylvania County is blessed with such natural beauty that it's easy to see why so many people come here to enjoy the scenery.
