Requirements for Obtaining a Marriage License

  • Marriage Licenses are issued between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Allow at least 20 to 30 minutes to process.
  • You can get a marriage license in any county in the state and get married in any county, but the license must be returned to the county of issuance. Both parties must be present when applying for the marriage license.
  • The premarital physical is no longer required.

 

  • Both bride and groom must present identification as listed below:
    Both bride and groom must provide their social security number. (Card must be presented at time of application.) If an individual has not been assigned a social security card, an affidavit must be completed.
  • Divorced applicants must provide the date of their last divorce on the application for a marriage license.  Therefore, a copy of the final divorce decree will be required when applying for the license.  There is no waiting period between the divorce and applying for the new license.  
  • Licenses good immediately upon issuance and is valid for 60 days.
  • Fee for license is $50.00. Money orders, checks or cash will be accepted.

Applicants 18 to 25 years of age must provide the ID's listed
below plus certified copies of their birth certificates.
Applicants 
25 years of age or older may use the following ID’s:
 

  • Driver’s licenses, 
  • State issued ID card,
  • Passport, or
  • Military ID

Applicants 16 or 17 years of age must have written parental consent, certified copies of their birth certificate, and same forms of ID required for applicants 18 years of age and older in order to acquire a license.
