Notice is hereby given that the Transylvania County Board of Commissioners will conduct a public hearing on proposed revisions to the Watershed Protection Ordinance of Transylvania County. The primary purpose of the ordinance is to ensure that development in the Water Supply Watershed is conducted in a manner that is safe and protects the water supply. After extensive review, the Planning Board is proposing a number of changes: 1) to streamline the process by merging two separate permitting processes into one; 2) to be consistent with the model ordinance developed by the NC Division of Water Resources; and 3) to incorporate other changes to make the ordinance easier to read and to be consistent with other land use related ordinances enforced by the Planning and Community Development Department.
Copies of the draft ordinance are available in the Office of the Clerk to the Board, County Administration Building, 101 S. Broad Street, Brevard, weekdays from 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and in the Office of Planning and Community Development, 106 E.
