Notice is hereby given pursuant to N.C. Gen. Stat. 158-7.1 that the Transylvania County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing at a regular meeting on November 27, 2017 at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the Board can consider, to receive public input on a proposed industrial building project between Transylvania County, the City of Brevard and Transylvania Economic Alliance. These parties are collaborating to construct a 60,750 sq. ft. multi-tenant light industrial building on a +/- 7-acre site on Ecusta Road to provide industrial space.
Under the project as proposed, the direct public benefits to be derived from the capital project include returning the property and improvements into a taxable asset under industrial use, providing space for expanding and locating light industrial development that bring jobs and additional contributions to the local economy. The transaction will be detailed at the public hearing on November 27, 2017.
In addition to holding the public hearing, at this meeting the Board may approve the allocation of funds and award a construction project. The construction is expected to total $4.9 million with $4.7 million coming from the county including a $1 million Golden Leaf Foundation Grant Award to the county.
If approved, the project would be funded through the County’s fund balance in addition to the grant. The hearing will be held during a regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 27, 2017 in Commissioners’ Chambers at the County Administration Building located at 101 S. Broad Street, Brevard, NC. In accordance with the NC Open Meetings Law, all meetings are open to the public and the public is invited to attend and comment.
